Description: Sadie White's summer job isn't going to be on the beach life-guarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. With her single mother's increasing pregnancy and refusal to work, Sadie has to take over her mother's job as a domestic servant for one of the wealthy summer families on a nearby island. When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie hadn't spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house she might have been normal enough to be excited about working for a rock star. Even though Sadie isn't impressed by Jax's fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax but he fights his attraction. Relationships never work in his world and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. By the end of the summer, Jax discovers he can't breathe without Sadie. Review: Oh. My. God. This book. So good. I'm not going to lie, it is very full of clichés. But the thing is, I never even noticed it until I set the book down and thought about it for a minute. When I started the book, I loved the sense of reality it had to it, rather than it just being another book where everything was either too good to be true or too bad to be true but then some guy comes and fixes it all. In fact, Sadie White is the opposite from one of those weak-willed protagonists who will just let some guy come and fix everything for her- even if it's the biggest teen hotthrob out there. Honestly, this is something I really admire about her. Once I reached a certain point in this book, I was not able to put it down. Some parts vaguely reminded me of Twilight, except with a rockstar instead of a vampire. Other parts reminded me of all those countless fanfictions, except with way better writing and a better plot. This novel is the best of everything for any romance lover who loves a good book with clichés, especially clichés that aren't noticeable as you are reading. I love this book a lot and would read it a thousand times over again if I didn't have a billion other books to get to. My only problem was sometimes when they would be getting a little frisky she would think she didn't want to go farther or that it wasn't a smart choice but she said her body wanted it and she never said no. Jax was perfectly respecting of her and everything, it just made me a little uncomfortable. Other than that, I would have given this book a 5/5 but that was a little too much for me. Even if you want to skip over those parts, this is a great book. Read it. Rating: 4.5/5 |
